So This Just Happened.... |
 |
TLDR: We saved a lot of pups today, please help, thanks.
Anyone else ever feel like you are constantly living the old idiom “When we make plans, God laughs?” Because seriously….as you know, we posted on socials that there have been so many surrenders, so many medically needy pups, Peaches’s double FHO surgery…that we needed to fundraise and until we did, we couldn’t consider anymore pups coming into FLDR. Laurie’s morning was spent at the vet today and she had plans to go home after dropping pups off and get her fosters settled, some paperwork done, water her plants (she likes to rescue plants too, we just don’t even ask anymore) and work on some spreadsheets. A fairly easy Wednesday, until she was pulling in her driveway and a text from one of our rescue partners came in about 11 small pups needing rescue ASAP. So she did what we do at FLDR - walked inside, dropped off her 2 foster pups, grabbed an energy drink and some carriers headed right back out, calling Dr. M and saying “Hey so I know we just left but I’ll be back…” She had prepped our rescue partner that we could maybe take 5, but truth be told, this summer has taken a toll and none of us are great at picking and choosing at the moment, so when she got there and looked at all the little faces, 11 pups were loaded up and headed to the vet, where they are now all settling in, safe and sound. These pups all came to us with no vaccines, no microchips, no vetting - so we are starting at ground zero with them. A few got their exams and preliminary vaccines today and everyone will be seen over the next few days. It will be a few weeks (at a minimum) before they are cleared for adoption, so please know we won’t discuss adoption until then and we don’t have “wait lists”. We appreciate your understanding in that!! We know there are a few with some major medical going on - one may have pyometra, one can’t really use her back legs, some are very underweight - all but 1 are still matted and need major grooming. So, we are back here tonight asking for some helping paws as the vet bills are quickly mounting. Donations can be made here or on our website, using any of the donation links. Thank you all friends!

Daisy, a Bichon/Shih Tzu/Poodle mix |
|
Meet Daisy! Daisy is a 4-5 year old female Bichon/Shih Tzu/Poodle mix and she weighs about 10 pounds. She arrived in rescue when her previous family could no longer care for her. Her foster mom says: Daisy is a sweet, spirited girl who absolutely adores her human. She has bursts of playful energy, especially in the mornings when she gets the zoomies, but also enjoys her nap times. Daisy loves to be held, cuddled and spoiled with toys, blankets and cozy dog beds. She’s still learning her manners and sometimes playfully nips at fingers or hands, but with consistency, she’s making progress. Daisy does well with other dogs, but her bossy personality and high energy play style can be a bit much for most. |
She’d probably thrive as the only dog in the home, where she can have all the attention to herself. She may also be food-aggressive if another dog gets too close to her human during mealtime. We’re not sure how she does with cats. She is house trained on a schedule and sleeps in her crate at night. Daisy also walks well on a leash. She would be the perfect companion for someone who wants a loving, playful and loyal best friend. Daisy is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped and has had her teeth cleaned. She is fostered in the Orlando area and her adoption donation is $375. |

NEEDED!! |

FLDR wants to save as many puppers as we possibly can and the only way to do this is by YOU joining our team!! We need fosters!! If you live in the Orlando area and would like to help save lives, we want you to join our pack! We are in need of foster homes willing to open their hearts and make a space on the couch for a rescued pup, usually just for a couple of weeks! We take care of the vetting, grooming, medications and you provide the love and snuggles! Please complete the "Adoption Application" and just put in the comments - "Want to Foster" and a Foster Coordinator will reach out to you right away!
We are also in need of people willing to do transports, usually from Winter Haven to St. Cloud or from north Orlando to St. Cloud a couple of times a month, during a weekday. Please email littledogrescue@gmail.com for more info on helping with Freedom Rides!

Save a Dog on Death Row!
They need YOUR help right now!!
Please help us save dogs on Death Row at local Animal Controls. These are dogs that can't be adopted out directly from Animal Control, mainly for medical reasons. When they can't be adopted, they need a rescue to save them when their time runs out. These pups desperately need our help, we are their last hope!

Florida Little Dog Rescue Group rescues dogs from all over the state of Florida, but our main focus is the Central Florida area. Our volunteers live anywhere from Tallahassee to Tampa, but all of our dogs are fostered in the Orlando area. We are 100% volunteer-based, which means no overhead or salary costs. Your donation is used directly for dog care. We do not receive government funds. We are entirely supported by charitable donations.
Why We Do What We Do
- No shelter, just foster homes—so every dog gets the love and evaluation they deserve.
- Over 5,500 lives changed across 16 years of rescue work.
- A fully volunteer run organization—every gift you give goes straight to care.
- Not a shelter—visits happen by application only to ensure safety and respect for foster families and pets.
Please note, we are not a shelter. We do not have a kennel or facility that you can visit and see all the dogs. Each dog is fostered in an individual home. We do rescue out of our private homes and in our spare time. So, you cannot come visit our dogs until you have gone through the application and interview process and we have contacted you about scheduling a visit. We do not have set "hours" and we answer all calls and emails as quickly as we can!
