 Saving Scout!

Hi Friends!

We know it’s been a minute, but wanted to give an update on Scout, one of our Hurricane Milton pups….you may remember he came in with a leg injury, that we found out was actually a pelvic injury also, and he spent a couple of months going back and forth to the vet, on crate rest, therapy sessions, sometimes weekly rechecks in order to help him heal and for us to save his leg. The good news is that we were able to save his leg! The bad news was that as his pelvic fracture healed, it healed “awkwardly” and began to cut off blood flow on one of the vessels in his leg. It became an urgent situation that required immediate FHO surgery. We had to decide pretty quickly on the surgery and didn’t have time to try and post to fundraise in advance, so here we are, playing a little catch-up, per se. BUT the upside to that is that we can tell you that Scout came through the surgery splendidly and is expected to make a full recovery and will soon be on his way to being a happy, healthy and most importantly - pain-free puppy! He has some more rehab to go before he is ready for adoption though, he’s not quite ready for inquiries yet (thank you for being respectful of that!). Scout is truly the happiest, snuggliest pup who doesn’t meet a stranger and has been wagging his tail through all of this ~ there is no question in any of our minds that Scout was “worth it”. If only we all could have the resilience and optimism he exudes!!!

If you can lend Scout a helping paw to help with his surgical costs, we would all be so appreciative. You can donate using the link right here, or any of them on our website. Thank you all so so much for all your support, likes on socials, shares and helping paws for all of our FLDR puppers!

Star. a Golden Retriever/Goldendoodle mix

READ THIS ENTIRE LISTING THOROUGHLY BEFORE APPLYING.
Meet Star! Star is an 11 week old female Golden Retriever/Goldendoodle mix puppy. Mom was a Golden Retriever, dad was a Goldendoodle, the puppies are in no way allergy friendly/non-shed/hypoallergenic. She currently weighs about 15 pounds, but is growing daily and as both parents were over 55 pounds so we expect the puppies all will be as well. Star arrived in rescue with her mom and litter when her previous family could no longer care for them. She and her littermates have been raised in a loving foster home since they were 5 weeks old. She is a VERY active puppy who will need a family up for all things puppy - socialization, house training, leash training, learning what to chew and not chew, crate training and all her other important life skills. A fenced yard is required, non-negotiable and no, a common, fenced "dog park" area is does not count. Yes, we will check your fence. Yes, we will check that the address you give us is yours. Her foster mom says, "All of the puppies are happy and very playful. They love attention from all people and love it if someone just hangs out in their puppy pen with them. Whoever is in it becomes the human jungle gym with puppies climbing on them or snuggled up next to them. They love to go outside and dig holes and run in the grass - you can not leave them alone or unwatched even for a minute!  They tend to get into mischief when they are bored and somehow get ahold of something they shouldn't.  They can be very crafty at times!  They use the piddle pads regularly and know that is where they go to do their "business". Star is a pretty well rounded puppy, but she is a sassy girl! She will talk to you but then loves to give you kisses too. Star loves to roughhouse and thinks playtime is the best time. She loves to play with toys, but unstuffed ones are the best option for her unless you want your house to look like a build-a-bear stuffing bin exploded inside! Star would love a family to call her own that will help her continue to blossom and grow!" She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, on flea and heartworm prevention and microchipped. Star is fostered in the Orlando area and her adoption donation is $500.

 FOSTERS
 NEEDED!!

FLDR wants to save as many puppers as we possibly can and the only way to do this is by YOU joining our team!! We need fosters!! If you live in the Orlando area and would like to help save lives, we want you to join our pack! We are in need of foster homes willing to open their hearts and make a space on the couch for a rescued pup, usually just for a couple of weeks! We take care of the vetting, grooming, medications and you provide the love and snuggles! Please complete the "Adoption Application" and just put in the comments - "Want to Foster" and a Foster Coordinator will reach out to you right away!

We are also in need of people willing to do transports, usually from Winter Haven to St. Cloud or from north Orlando to St. Cloud a couple of times a month, during a weekday. Please email littledogrescue@gmail.com for more info on helping with Freedom Rides!

Save a Dog on Death Row!
They need YOUR help right now!!

Please help us save dogs on Death Row at local Animal Controls. These are dogs that can't be adopted out directly from Animal Control, mainly for medical reasons. When they can't be adopted, they need a rescue to save them when their time runs out.  These pups desperately need our help, we are their last hope!

Florida Little Dog Rescue Group rescues dogs from all over the state of Florida, but our main focus is the Central Florida area.  Our volunteers live anywhere from Tallahassee to Tampa, but all of our dogs are fostered in the Orlando area.  We are 100% volunteer-based, which means no overhead or salary costs.  Your donation is used directly for dog care. We do not receive government funds. We are entirely supported by charitable donations.

We ensure that each dog is spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested for heartworms and other parasites, examined by a vet and treated for any known conditions prior to adoption.  All known medical information is fully disclosed to new families.  While awaiting adoption, the dogs live in foster homes that provide love, patience and TLC to the pups! A pup's stay in foster care could vary from several days to several weeks, depending upon the dog's conditions and needs.  Unlike shelter or kennel living, fostering the pups in a home environment allows us to personally evaluate each dog for behavior and temperament issues.  We are able to see how they interact and react to other animals and children, if they are house trained, like to go for walks, play ball, etc. and that makes it easier to know what type of home/family would be best suited for them!

Please note, we are not a shelter. We do not have a kennel or facility that you can visit and see all the dogs. Each dog is fostered in an individual home. We do rescue out of our private homes and in our spare time. So, you cannot come visit our dogs until you have gone through the application and interview process and we have contacted you about scheduling a visit.  We do not have set "hours" and we answer all calls and emails as quickly as we can!
