Let's start from the beginning. On 12/04 , Colleen came to us, looking for a little girl. She found Debbie, a darling little Shih Tzu, that had breast cancer.
Dr. Mabley performed a radical mastectomy on her,
and Colleen adopted this wonderful little girl.
Her name was Debbie, now named Holly, (she is now Pebbles' sister) About a month ago, Colleen called us, and very sadly had just lost her other dog. She was so incredibly sad, that we knew we had to help. We had just brought home a tiny tiny girl, whom we had named Tallulah. Her little back legs were very crooked but, OHHHHH what a wonderful little girl. So happy, so alive, so full of life. Colleen wasn't ready to get a new dog yet, and we weren't ready to place her. If this little girl couldn't make her tears stop, NOTHING could!!! So, the next day, Miss LuLu (Pebbles) went out on foster. ( We KNOW what happens with fosters!!) Colleen fell head over heels in love with this little monkey. Here she is with her new sister, Crystal the cat...(you can see how crooked her little legs are. Actually, because her knees are "out" all the time, she can't even straighten her legs)
And here she is with her "big" sister, Holly.
Please join us as Pebbles embarks on her journey to "Happy Legs"!! Thursday, she will be admitted to Arbor Animal Hospital for surgery. She has Luxating Patellas on both knees....both a Grade 4.
Stay tuned for her surgery!!!
Today's the big day!! Pebbles got up this AM and chose a nice little outfit for her surgery day! Her choice was her beach attire, to make her feel a bit more at ease. She wasn't sure about the hat, but we assured her that it would look great in the surgery suite!!
She was even able to squeeze in a bit of playtime with sister, Holly, and because Pebbles is going to be needing some extra TLC, Holly even let her have the toys.
Okay, girls. It's time for Pebbles to go to the hospital now.
Bye, Little Pal. I'll see you soon with brand new little legs so you can run like the wind for many many years to come. Don't worry.
Dr. Mabley will take great care of you!! When you get home, I'll let you have the toy, but ONLY FOR ONE DAY!!!
We've taken pictures of the surgery ( thank you, Josh) and they are very graphic. If you don't have a queasy stomach and would like to see them...
Pebbles Luxating Patella Surgery
We are absolutely astounded that Pebbles walked this morning. It wasn't far and it was very very slow, but she walked!!!
We're keeping her as pain free as possible and we feel that in a few days, she'll be able to move around a lot better.
It's now been a couple of months, and Pebbles runs like the wind, with very straight, pain free legs. Thanks again, Dr. Mabley!!!
Check this out!! The wonders of Dr. Mabley!!
