Max (aka Mickey)

Hi Susie and
Francois,
Just saying
hi. Mr Max ( aka Mickey) is doing just great. He is a blessing every day. A
wonderful snuggly friend. He sleeps with me all night, in my arms.
delicious!.
Thanks again
for letting me have him.
Hope you are
well and still saving wonderful doggie lives.
Best, Rona
FYI
:
For those of
you that know Izzy, Dr. Mabley's fur daughter, Max is her (birth) brother.
Bailey

Here's our
little munchkin after having a little trim. Next time it will look better
because he was very wiggly so our hair is a little tiny choppy, but at least
it is out of his little eyes which are so beautiful! He is such a little
sweetie and has made such an improvement with his biting and growling the
last several days. He has definitely "found his place." We went to a get
together last night with Sue Myles and some of her friends, and he was such
a good boy-everyone loved him. He follows me everywhere and is playing so
well with Gracie. Even Maggie is getting into it now. He is precious and
we love him to pieces-he is very spoiled! Thank you for our little boy!
We hope you and Francois are having a good week, and that Sugar is improving
each day. I loved your e-mail the other day re driving home with Sugar and
how inquisitive she was to see things-it is a beautiful story. I shared the
Sugar story with eveyone last night, and all of the people at this group
gathering were so touched over the wonderful things you do for these little
ones.
Sue
Makena

Hi Susi and
Francois,
I hope you
both are doing well. Not sure if I sent you the award we received last
year...so proud of my little Makena. This is from the reading program where
children who have English as a second language read to Makena, and these
delightful children also show her the pictures on each page of the book.
Recently four of the children that read to her sent us a beautiful
poster-sized card with a photo of Makena on the outside decorated with
glitter and stickers and inside each child wrote Makena a thank you note for
letting them read to her. More photos inside of the children reading to
Makena with lots more glitter and stickers. It brought tears to my eyes!!!
This photo of
Makena shows her under our chair where she hides when the weather is warm as
the floor is a cool tile. Just too cute of her peeking out!
Makena is
still having health issues with her Pancreas and was back in the hospital
last week. Her liver enzymes are sky high so she is now on R/D one of the
lowest fat dog foods and I add a Fish Oil pill to her breakfast. We are
praying this will help. As my Vet said "She is the happiest sick dog on the
planet". He was trying to take an x-ray of her stomach and she kept wagging
her tail so they had to hold it still. Yes, that's my baby. Also, when she
was in the hospital last week the staff kept wanting to take her home each
night. I'll keep you updated. Truly you would never know anything is
wrong as she loves to play fetch...well, mostly keep away with her toys.
A
couple of weeks ago we were having dinner at the Moss Beach Distillery
sitting outside next to the fire pit watching the ocean roll in and out and
they took this photo of Makena to put on their website. They are having the
"cutest dog" contest and of course I am hoping Makena will win. The staff
is deciding on the winner so I can't stuff the ballot box!
Take good care
and I'll write again soon. Love, Pam, Ron & Miss Makena

Before

Now

Greetings Susi
& Francois !
Today’s the
two-year anniversary of my adoption. Check out the before and after
photos. As you can see, I’ve come a long way…… really TOO CUTE for words !
When I first
came to my human-folks, I was shy and skittish of everything that moved.
Both my knees were recovering from surgery, expertly performed by the very
kind Dr. Mabley of the Arbor Animal Hospital. At that time, I was scrawny
looking, a fussy eater, not very playful and didn’t even know the simplest
of commands. Since then, I’ve gained a little weight (rotisserie chicken is
my favorite treat) and my once wimpy hair is now longer and thicker with all
the beauty treatments I’m regularly receiving. To top it off, I currently
know basic commands…… AND I’ve even learned a few tricks ! These days, you
can catch me running & playing fetch OR watch me snoozing in any one of MY
four beds around the house. I also have quite the wardrobe when I dress up
for “special occasions”. Best of all, Krys and Frank shower me with
CONSTANT affection, sometimes to the point where I have to run and hide from
their unrelenting advances of cuddles & kisses) ! LOL
Yes, I’m a
lucky dog ! Life is good !
With love and forever thanks to you both,
Cutie Pie Hubscher (aka Susie)
Wilson (aka Kelsey)

Here
is a picture of your baby Wilson/kelsey more to come (im not computer savy
to send more photos at once thanks for Wilson he is very loved.

Emily Rose (Kiley)

Susi, Sofia &
Francois:
These are pictures of Emily Rose, (Kiley), at her first birthday party,
(7-28-10). She partied like crazy with her doggie friends, Julie, Molly, and
Toby, had some 3 dog bakery gourmet doggie treats and is completely worn out
and sound asleep as I type this. . As usual she was the center attraction of
the event. She is doing just great and is very nicely socialized with other
doggies and with people. At almost 4 pounds now she is quite the handful. We
remain so grateful to all of you for the wonderful things you are doing to
make a better world for all the little orphans out there. You sure made our
world whole again with this little love sponge. Thank You, Thank You and
Thank You some more. Bless all of you and keep up all the great work you do.
Always Grateful,
Carolann, Emily Rose , & Charles
Enzo
Hi Susi and
Francois,
YEAH - love
the picture of Sugar in her new home! She looks so cozy and comfortable,
just what she deserves!
Enzo is doing
really well. Not house-trained yet, but if he doesn't make it outside he
goes on the rug in front of the door - close enough! Once his bladder gets a
little stronger, he'll be able to make it out each time.
Mike and I
can't believe his disposition - exactly what you described. He LOVES his
people, (wants to be wherever we are), spunky, sweet, loving. He enjoys
bouncing around the yard, all the smells, and munching on a flower from
time-to-time. You really know how to raise the perfect puppy; can't thank
you enough.
We hope you
and Sofia are doing well.
We'll stay in
touch.
Kind Regards,
Paula and
Mike (Enzo's people)
Bailey (aka Kohler)

Hi Susi and
Francois!
I hope that
Sugar is doing much better.
Bailey is
doing good and adjusting great to his new home. He cried some the first
two nights but he is getting much better. I had forgotten how exhausting it
is to have a puppy but I am totally in love with him!
I am sending
you some pictures of this adorable little guy!
Alessa
Lani

Hi Susi and Francois,
Just wanted to let you know that little
miss Lani is doing just great. She gets more personable and perkier each day
as her comfort increases. She has decided that she likes grass, that she
likes us and that she is pretty crazy about Rocky. I am not sure that Rocky
shares her enthusiasm yet. We keep yelling at him because when they start to
want to play together he can't seem to take it down about 10 notches. Lani
follows him around, he tolerates her and today they seem to be playing
together. Their biggest game right now is "Who gets the toy?" Rocky usually
wins.
We had some crying the first two
nights, last night hardly a whimper. We think she is great and so do our
next door neighbor 8 year old twins. Thanks for getting her off to such a
good start!
Mike and Leah, Nolan, Rocky and little
Lani---the first couple of photos are first night home, then a battle for
the blue fuzzy toy and eating the dandelion game!
Sofia
Rose

Francois and Susi,
Just sending you another picture of our
little princess Sophia Rose. She definitely is a bundle of love and joy.
She, of course rules the roost! She is the boss. We are so happy with her
and her brothers and sister just love her too!
If you ever come across an Maltese that
needs a good home please let me know.
I would appreciate it.
God Bless you and your wonderful work
with our furry companions.
Cheryl
Re: Annie and Roonie

This is an email we received from our
adoption partner and friend, Eileen,
at the Riverside shelter, a high kill
shelter. These employees work so hard for all of these
animals and we're very proud to called
partners.
Dear Susi and Francois,
I am sitting in my bed crying my a__ off because I finally went to your web
site and looked at the babies. I know I put up a tough guy front when I see
you, when you are picking up the worst of the worst from me. Those puppies
were a mess. What was done to them was a sin. I honestly don't know how I
deal with my job without crying all the time. I have NEVER seen the amount
of foxtails pulled from eyes and ears in dogs that young before, and I know
I missed some because it hurt them so much for me to do it without
anesthesia. They never stopped wagging their tails the whole time ( all of 3
hours) that they spent at the shelter. You put in their information on your
web site that SOMEBODY loved them because of how sweet they were. Animals
that are loved don't look like that. I think they were just really nice and
I am heartbroken that there might be a mom or siblings that are in that
same shape or worse. I am so grateful that I met you. You fix so many wrongs
thrust upon the weakest and smallest dogs, and you are the best people I
know. Thank You for what you do. I don't know what else to say, I hope you
understand just how much you have impacted my life.
Love Ya, Eileen
Fiona

Dear Susi and Francois,
A note and some photos from Fiona - known as Twinkle when we adopted her
from you in December 2008.
Fiona was 2.8 pounds when we picked her ups. Now she weighs 12 pounds - but
not to worry, she isn't overweight! She is svelte and muscular. Fiona runs
and walks about 2 miles each day.
She quickly outgrew everything we bought for her. Perhaps you can use these
small items for other tiny tots who come your way.
Thank you so much for what you do.
Sincerely,
Chyrle and Jack Gould
Bailey ( aka Mick)
Susie/Francois....We love this little guy.......he is fearless....He and
Izzy are now best friends....Thanks, D&L

Rosy

Thank you so much for bringing Rosy to us. What a wonderful girl she is.
Today we will have had her one year. We picked her up on Memorial day last
year. Thank you for choosing us to be her family.
Here are photos of her within the first month of her adoption and now.

The first two photos are of Rosy within the first month of her adoption with
her bed.
The third photo is Rosy today with her original bed. It's now her toy box.
She weighs 21 pounds and has the heart of an athlete according to her vet.
She runs every morning on the beach.
The last photos are of Rosy in her chair looking for friends or foes...She
alerts us to either.
Rosy loves everyone and everything, and we adore her!!! All my rules went
out the window. She is our baby and we are her's.
The attached scan is of us on Bob's 90th birthday celebrated in August
2009.
Your description of her on your wed site was perfect. She is everything you
said she was and more.
Much love to you and Francois, Annette and Bob Henry
Dear Susi and Francois:
I had to send these to show you how Rosy's tail curled up and fluffed out.
Rosy June 2009

Rosy April 2010
Again, we thank you for such a wonderful girl.
I hope your mommy dog and five babies do well. You always have your hands
and hearts full
Riley

Susi and Francios
Oh my, you have had a very busy week with those 5 adorable puppies, and the
lovely mama, Sugar. Let me know if you need my help with them, anytime!!!!!
Well, the good news is RILEY (Wilie's Coyote, as his loved ones call him) is
finally home for good.
Riley had his plate and screws removed that protected the break he had
repaired last fall about 6 weeks ago and has only been a weekend visitor in
our home since then, as he needed a lot of down time to heal properly.
Wonderful Dr. Mabley reports that the leg is healing nicely and Riley can be
home permanently now. He is chewing at the leg because when the bandages are
removed it leaves a sensation of itchiness. So of course, he has the halo
on.
Lilah (the amazing 7 month old Havanese from Little Dog Rescue) is getting
beautified at Arbor Animal Hospital today, however when she gets home today,
I am sure she will begin dragging Riley around by the Halo (she weighs 12
pounds and Riley is 6 pounds). It will be crazy keeping the play between
them quiet and calm for the next two weeks, as Riley can't afford a big bang
to leg yet.
Eli is thrilled to have Riley, his Yorkie bud, home for good. The kissing
has been going on for over an hour. Since Riley was away, Eli and Lilah
bonded. Finally, Eli gives Lilah a ton of kisses, of course Lilah gets all
submissive and rolls on her back to accept the love Eli finally gives her.
Thanks to Dr. Mabley and his incredible staff for taking such wonderful care
of Riley during his recovery. As Dr. Mabley told me today, "Riley is the
boss around here. No dog gets in our out without a big bark from Riley in
his cage, which of course, is in a premier location so he could see
everything that was going on. He felt right at home."
We all thank you for our little charmer, Riley and our furry lover, Lilah
(even Eli send his thanks).
Love, Lisa
Timmy

You have seen too many of this kind, but Timmy remains the world's
best dog. He can sleep anywhere there's a human who loves him.
Marcie

Hi Francois and Susi:
It's been awhile since we sent you a picture of Marcie. She was going
through chemotherapy and lost most of her hair. After her weekly chemo
shots for two months, she was able to start the "maintenance program" -- one
shot a month and a few pills two weeks later. She has done so incredibly
well since all this began--no nausea--no lack of appetite--we are
overjoyed!! She finally started growing her hair back in around March. Her
personality has remained the same-loving to everyone at the Cancer Group--in
fact, she gets excited as we drive up to the place, knowing she is going to
get some treats. Again, she is the only dog I have ever had that likes
going to the vet so she can see everyone and all the dogs.
I thought I would send you these two pictures taken after her walk today. I
was more tired that she--one of the reasons I haven't called or e-mailed you
was because I had to have knee surgery last week after a month of pain from
a torn meniscus. But I am on the road to recovery now--of course, part of
that being the fact that Marcie could lay down on the bed with me during the
day and cuddle!
Every day that she feels good, we do too!
Loving Thoughts to Your Family,
The Oviedo Family
Melanie

Just a Monday update---she is an ANGEL! So good, so sweet and so well
behaved. We took her to the vet today for her first visit and she is fine.
He also said that she had had more litters of puppies than one, but that she
is healthy and just needs vitamins.
She sleeps on a bench at the end of our bed (still trying to sneak in with
us, but we are not going to do that--at least yet) and she sits at my feet
or in my lap at the office. She's very insistent when it is time for her
long walks through the neighborhood and she has already met lots of friends
and will be having a play date with a new friend on Saturday. NO accidents
and she walks right between us and a bit behind---very mannerly---as long as
I say "walk with me" instead of letting her lead. She stops when we
stop---she's amazing!
We LOVE HER and she seems very happy. Thank you again - - - -
Sally

Dear Susi and Francois,
I’m sending you some recent photos that my Auntie Lynn took when I went to
her house for a slumber party. She said she had great fun snuggling and
cuddling with me – something about her needing a “doggie fix.” I had a blast
being chauffeured around in my pink limo, wearing a pink sweater to match. I
was spoiled rotten with Gelson’s cooked lean chicken breast [this is the
ONLY thing she knows how to cook] and lots of tummy tickles. I got to sleep
on her big bed; you would have been proud of me because I didn’t hog it. I
shared. It was awfully funny watching Auntie Lynn drag all the dining room
chairs and placing their backs against the bed so I wouldn’t accidentally
fall off. Gosh, did she really think I would dream of being a Flying
Wallenda? All great fun, though I missed Mom, Timon [the pseudo Meerkat],
and Roxie [the Wild Child].
We’re doing fine and happy that spring is FINALLY here and that the rain has
stopped. Now I’m eager to go outside and smell the flowers instead of
putting on the brakes because I don’t like to get my delicate little
tootsies wet.
I’m sending lots of love and kisses to you both, the people who rescued me
and worked so hard to get my health stable so I could get a new home. I’m so
grateful every day.
Ms. Sally
Cee Cee

Dear Susi & Francois,
It has been 5 years (April 2005) since I got my sweet little Cee Cee. She
brings me so much joy everyday. Everyone she meets is putty in her paw
after about 2 minutes. Her fan club among my neighbors and friends is
constantly expanding. People ask me her age and when I say, "About 6" they
think I mean months, not years. Forever a puppy, silly, playful and very
manipulative when she puts her mind to it, I just love her to pieces !!!
Thank you so much for getting her from the shelter and allowing me to adopt
her.
I am forever in gratitude for my Cee Cee.
Gretchen
P.S. She is also known as: Sweet Potato, Little Brown Jug, Miss Thing, Babydog, La
Diva, and The World's Cutest Dog
Scarlet Rose

Dearest Susi,
Every night I ask Max the same question: Do you think Scarlet Rose has
forgotten her abysmal beginnings and neglected early life prior to coming
into our home and her new and greatly improved surroundings and life where
her every whim is catered to and "we live but to serve." I don't think she
had an opportunity to train her former owners; this is no longer her problem
as we are well trained and snap to her every wish and have the foresight to
anticipate what she may want or need.
I don't believe I ever mentioned it to you but I relate to Scarlet Rose on a
very deep and personal emotional level. I too was abandoned so I know how
it feels. I believe I am capable of violence if anyone ever tried to harm
my precious and loving Scarlet Rose.
Max was sick the last quarter of '09. He had kidney cancer. This
necessitated several pre surgery procedures. I was on the very fast,
assertive and occasionally aggressive track to get him into surgery to have
that cancerous kidney removed while it was still encapsulated. Thankfully
it was removed in time. We still have to see the hematologist/oncologist in
May for follow up work but I'm trying to stay calm. I could not mention the
word "daddy" during Max's various hospital stays. Scarlet Rose went wild
looking for him. When we returned home I had to pick her up and bring her
to the car to see Max. He was not permitted to pick her up even though
she's just a slip of a girl at 8 lbs. Upon his return she never left his
side.
Please tell me the truth: Do you think her early days are forgotten? Can
you make a good guesstimate? Our baby is now approximately 10 years old.
She still runs through the house like a house-a-fire, still plays like a
puppy and still sleeps next to me on my pillow at night. I tuck her in with
my blankets and there she stays until morning. You have placed many dogs in
many loving and blessed homes and I'm proud and honored to be one of the
homes you deemed suitable and worthy for our precious little Pussy Cat Dog.
After all, she has a Scarlet Rose Nose and the Nose knows!
With more gratitude that I can ever express,
Carrie Diamond, LV, NV
